Blessings of the Solstice #poetry

The battle between the dark and the light
Takes place in the womb, in the depth of the night

Before calling the light, we honour the dark
Releasing resentment and regret ... listen, hark!

The dark's triumph is brief, the wheel takes a turn
Fears have been confronted as we grow and learn

New life is ready to flourish, promise waiting to be born
The Old King is no more as the uterus is torn

The child is born, in all worlds he has power
We watch and wait, to welcome this hour

Pebbles in the Pond #poetry

Thinking about the past today, on Father's Day, and realising that we never truly know the effect we have on others ...
Enjoy
Shaz

Pebbles in the Pond

The web weaves us together
Strands that intertwine
From the colours of the rainbow
To grapes growing on the vine

Spiral circles moving outwards
Weft and warp exist
Boundaries in place by humanity
And we're stumbling in the mist

Paths that we have chosen
May only stay a while
But the momentum carries forward
Distance unknown - mile after mile

Merging, fluid, changing
No earthly sound does it make
The ripples spread ever wider
Across the tranquil lake

We may never even meet
With those we have a bond
Don't live your life unaware
We are pebbles thrown into the pond

Autumn Musings #poetry

With today being National Poetry day, I'm sharing my Autumn Musings with you.
Blessings of the season.
Shaz

Plants and trees are focused in the Earth
Conserving their energy inside
We sit indoors, by the glow of the hearth
And we listen to hear our guide
Steps that rustle through autumn's leaves
The sun setting early in the day
We hear the sound as the Earth Mother grieves
In our havens we genuflect to pray
While waiting for the new son to be born
We too plant our seeds in the dark
We share a sup from the drinking horn
And wait for the flight of the lark
For there will come the appointed time
When the sun will ride high in the sky
Creativity will reach the peak of it's prime
Thoughts will have concrete wings that fly
Many cycles, through many years
Is the sacrifice we all must face
'Till we merge as one, without any fears
And joyfully become one race .......

Midnight Ball by Sam Goodwin

It seems rather appropriate with Sam moved into Uni today that I should post one of his poems:

Midnight Ball ~ written by Samuel Goodwin 10.01.02

The sun the moon the planets and stars
Maybe the life on Earth and Mars
From day if sweet from night will fall
I wonder if there will be a midnight ball?

Solar Return

It's our dog's birthday today! Although he's obviously not human, here's my Solar Return poem ...

Today it is your solar return
Bringing another year in which to learn
Twelve new chapters, blank and ready
For you to create with a hand that's steady
May the wisdom you already own
Guide you through the new seeds sown
A wish for laughter, love and light
To follow you on your path - both day and night

If you wish to use my poems, please ask first!

I use Mary Shea 's 'Planets in Solar Returns' when forecasting:

Journey

Shapeshifting ~ is it possible?

Feet are solid
On the ground
Dust is swirling
Round and round

Rooted, grounded
Sacred space
Sounds are growing
Cello, bass

Energy entwining
Above, below
Flowing, merging
Transformation slow

Tempest howling
Earth steady
Energy growing
Physical body ready

Casting off shape
Form is a blur
Metamorphosis, streamline
Feathers and fur

Hunting the field
Scaling the height
Snuffling the underbrush
Soaring in flight

Freedom, fluid
The web is strumming
Carefree, unbound
Daylight is coming

Remembrance, pulling
A drawing down
Reverence, reluctance
Cold wind blown

The beating heart
The senses reeling
Stretching, tingling
Awkwardness, feeling

Joy in memory
Warm blood, taste
Physical body
Is not in haste

The wind is quiet
The moon is low
Birds are singing
The horizon aglow

A blessing received
Sustenance given
Time to leave
Inspired ....... driven

When I read Suzy Turner's The Raven Saga, I associated her story with this poem.

You can read my review of Raven here, December Moon here and The Lost Soul here (I actually linked this poem on that last review).

Raven is FREE on Kindle, the other two in the series are reasonably priced at £1.84 (as at 15th August 2013)

Family

Ironically, this is a very apt first choice to add with my eldest off to University in a couple of weeks.

Once I held you in my arms
And dreamed a world for you
Now you have independence
But you need guidance too

Different stages, different needs
Each day a letting go
This life we share together
Still has it’s highs as well as lows

A family is important
No judgements will I make
A niche to be yourself
This promise I will not break

Our dreams are still entwined
Unconditional love can be found
Our blood binds us together
This is the thread that makes us bound

Although I wrote this poem many years ago, I can't help thinking of Carole Matthews With Love at Christmas.  You can read my review here.
